The ACC is an integral part of the city’s European Capital of Culture Year and the Arena / Convention Centre has quickly established itself as one of the leading venues in the north of England.
Very little in the way of clear maintenance instructions were provided by the cladding manufacture on project completion. Little consideration was given the level weathering conditions and salt levels from the river Mersey and how this would impact on the cladding.
To protect their own interest the cladding manufacture placed large limitations on what type of methods and products could be used to clean and maintain the façade. Through years of neglect and poor maintenance, plus the soiling levels had built to a level were the façade was heavily damaged.
Our role has been to test and design a solution that would work within the limited framework provided whilst delivering a restoration result that would remove the heavy soiling and the apply a specialist protective coating.
Over the next 6 months we will be working with the client to inspect and measure the level of salt build up and developing a façade maintenance strategy to ensure the façade stays protected for the future.
