The £164 million design and build construction project was completed in January 2008 by Bovis Lend Lease.
Very little in the way of clear maintenance instructions were provided by the cladding manufacturer on project completion. Minimal consideration was given to the localised weathering conditions, the impact of salts from the river Mersey or action taken to minimise the impact on the metallic powder coated cladding skin.
Our role has been to investigate and develop a solution to restore the cladding skin without damaging the metallic coating elements. Over the next 6 months we will be working with the client to inspect and measure the level of salt build up and developing a façade maintenance strategy to ensure the façade stays protected for the future.
